| What about UV resistance?td> | All plastic materials face challenges related to UV degradation. Most customers are satisfied with the UV performance of the color chemistry used by Fresco. UV can be a weakness in color systems in general. For most performance requirements, the image will perform closely to the technical specifications of the plastics in which the image has been rendered. If the image is introduced into a plastic with superior UV resistance, the image will perform with better UV resistance than a plastic with poor UV resistance. Fresco cannot turn an ABS with poor UV resistance into a UV-loaded acrylic with great UV resistance. ABS, for instance, is rarely sold without some sort of a performance cap, since the naked ABS has poor resistance to UV, chemical, abrasion, etc. | |
| What about durability, chemical resistance, stain resistance, and UV stability of Fresco Images™ | The Fresco Image™ doesn't require protection to achieve chemical resistance. But the Fresco Image must be rendered into a chemical resistant plastic. If general purpose plastic sheet will not meet project specifications, performance caps can be used to add chemical resistance, stain resistance, and UV stability to the plastic sheet both before and after the Fresco Image is rendered. | |
| Will the image hold up to deep draw thermoforming? | Most Fresco customers find that a standard Fresco image™ holds up very well through the thermoforming process. For deeper draws, distortion Imaging (distorting the image when imaged flat so that it will thermoform into a correct shape) may be necessary so that the image will look correct once the plastic blank has been "pulled" in a forming operation. |
